Chapter 7:
“Hey, what are you doing?” Gwen asked suspiciously.
“We got a new dog today,” Megan replied.
“Let me see! Is it a girl or a boy?” Gwen asked excitedly.
“A girl. She’s three months old.” Gwen could tell her sister was not pleased at all to have a new puppy.
“Mom made me get a dog today,” Megan sighed. She didn’t want an animal messing up the house and chewing up things. There is a down side, Gwen figured.
Gwen went over to help Megan open the cage. Inside was a tiny puppy with huge brown eyes and a tiny wet nose. They lifted the door and Gwen carefully took out the dog and carried her inside, her sister following her with a bag of puppy food, a few toys, and a big fluffy pillow.
When inside, Gwen put down the puppy and ran upstairs to find her mom in the computer room. She ran to her and gave her a big hug.
“How’s your day been?” Mrs. Macy said with a laugh.
“Great! Thanks for the puppy!!! It made my day,” Gwen replied.
“Now, what shall we name her?” her mom asked.
“We should have a vote. When dad gets home, we should sit together and think of names we like,” said Gwen.
“We also need to go to the vet tomorrow and give her shots and make sure she’s okay,” Mrs. Macy reminded her.
“Right. Let’s do that at 3:00 tomorrow, because I have to go to the mall with Mandy.”
“That’s fine, dear. Now go do your homework!” said her mother as Gwen walked out of the room.
