Genetic engineering has already gotten out of hand and its only been 15 years since Dolly the Sheep!
My best memory of the Dolly press conference was how the networks alternated between the speeches by all these VERY serious Scot scientists ("this is the greatest achievement in the history of modern science"--which sounded better with the scots burr attached) and cutaway shots to Dolly, with these very dramatic closeups of her, the camera anxiously awaiting some kind of miraculous manifestation of ovine super-intelligence. I kept shouting at the TV "it's just a SHEEP for Christ's sake" but obviously no one at the networks was listening.
To this day, I still wonder if Dolly was "modified" to taste good with mint sauce...
I knew that!
