Don't laugh: a colleague of mine from Yale once regaled us with a lecture about his adventures with Samuel Beckett (the guy who wrote "Waiting for Godot" not Scott Bakula from "Quantum Leap"); apparently Beckett allowed hom to follow him around his daily excursions through Paris, but refused to allow him to photograph him from the front. So my colleague proudly showed us his collection of photos of the back of Beckett's head as part of his presentation. We all thought that was by far and away the most Beckettean thing about the whole lecture...
