It's Saturday (afternoon), but you still have plenty of time to try your hand at Cannon Blaster. Games like this are positively surreal. Shoot a cute little baby from cannon to cannon, past floating dandelions coins, until he gently falls into the sun. I don't know why the sun. Why not a nice soft fluffy mattress?

Check out the graffiti artists of the Civil War. Just goes to show, if you buried a watch in the sand for a thousand years, in a million years you would have a diamond. Wait, what?
As workmen scraped the walls, paint pealed away in chunks, revealing what appeared to be graffiti left behind by soldiers from the Civil War. The more they scraped, the more writings appeared.
The graffiti appears to have been left behind by both Northern and Southern troops who served during the Civil War, he said. It covers much of the inside of the building.
"It appears to be as high as people could reach," Klusemyer said. "It's down low. It's up high. It's just everywhere."
Oh. Paint over some young boys' graffiti, and in 150 years you'll have a national treasure. That was it.

Of course, then someone takes a digital pic of the event and the whole thing gets sucked back into the internet. Still. I love it so much, we need a new blog category. What should it be?

It's Saturday, so you have plenty of time to learn Super Alpha Soup. There are two types of games - Arcade and Puzzle. Whichever you choose first, pay strict attention to the instructions. You have to link letters of the alphabet together into words, then use the space bar combined with the mouse to slurp 'em out of your bowl. The object is to empty the bowl of letters in order to move to the next level.
Both games are fun. I find Arcade to be much more frustrating than Puzzle, because the letters I need tend to stick to those I don't, and it's tough to remember how to unstick them when I know I'm on a deadline. Still, these sorts of challenges are why we like these little games. That and the Charlie Brown-ish jazz piano music. (Turn up your speakers.)
Where have I been all week? I've been at work, where we have been conducting phone surveys of consumer protection boards in various states. Ultimately, our results will be ignored used by the state legislature in deciding whether to pass a bill. The project has been interesting the way baseball is interesting. You know what I mean. On the face of it, baseball, like politics, is stupefyingly dull, with everyone just standing around in the field, concentrating more or less on one person (who himself is receiving secret instructions from a shadowy figure we never even glimpse). Suddenly, someone makes a move! And there's a flurry of organized purpose! And an innocent bystander gets beaned! And people jump up and scream while buying overpriced food! And then ... all is quiet once more, and you wonder what the hell just happened, so you glue your eyes to the instant replay monitor and let professionals interpret the play for you. Yeah. Kind of like that.
On to the fun and games. Sorry in advance that there's rather a lot more reading here than in past weeks.

It's summertime, and that means our Pekenese-Pomeranian mix, Daisy, goes under the razor to get her summer cut. Sure, she now resembles a shaggy ferret, but she's so much more comfortable in the heat.
