Ta-daa!
Four years since we've been camping, and we can still remember how to put together this tent!
We have made plans for a camping trip this weekend with my SIL and her two kids. Yes, I have (nearly) overcome my reluctance to camp again. You know what went a long way toward this reluctance-overcoming? Putting up this tent. It smells like the woods, like pine trees and woodsmoke. Wonderful.
Though it's been four years, all our equipment is present, accounted-for, and in good nick. Including a comprehensive supply list I wrote many years ago and printed out on a dot-matrix printer (!). What a kick it was to find that list. Today I'll set Bunny to gathering supplies. She needs something practical to do - otherwise she'll jitter apart from sheer happiness at the prospect of hitting the woods with her cousins for a whole weekend.
You know you've been hanging around the wrong crowd when:
1) Someone says they're going camping and you immediately think of Judy Garland or Barbara Streisand....
2) Someone says they're going camping in the woods and you immediately think of Judy Garland, Barbara Stresand and Smokey the Bear!
3) You look ast the tent and think "no, the two blue shades DO NOT work at all.."
4) You think that SIL is a misnomer for SALS...

Where are you headed? We're going to Calaveras-Big Trees SP this weekend. At least, we are if nothing else falls through.

A few hours north of Nevada City. Others know the location; I am traveling on faith, which for me is a real switch.

I hope it renewed your happiness(?) about camping. =) We're going camping in a few days with friends. Ross and i have never camped together (he's an eagle scout(!), so I have high expectations. And despite others impressions, I can hang in the woods as well as in the Hyatt. I grew up going camping, from elementary school through high school, and I'm looking forward to introducing the girls to it. I'm a LITTLE unsure how it'll go, now that I have to be the adult and 'make the food' and 'clean up', but hopefully it'll be as fun as I remember, despite being the 'adult' now.
