Did he take it to Laramie? It would have been REALLY POPULAR there...
Working on a college campus you get immune to attacks from undergrad art majors. After the 237th "shocking" collage of patriarchal oppression of wymmyn's voices in art or capitalist exploitation you start getting very nostalgic for Jackson Pollock or DeChirico...
Funny story: at a recent audition for a drama/music collaboration I'm working on for the Fall, my theatre friend and I heard a sincere young singer doing a monologue from "Streetcar Named Desire"--the monologue ends with Blanche denouncing Stella and her "Polack" (Stanley Kowalski), only this young woman pronounced it "pollock"--after she had left my friend and I looked at one another and cracked up "I never knew Stella collected modern art" I said...
Maybe it's funnier if you're in the theatre...
Eually funny and equally true story: years ago at a high school speech tournament, I heard a young woman reciting Allan Ginsbergs "Howl" (the clean parts at least) except whern when she came to the patr where Ginsberg is ranting about Jackson Pollock the young woman pronounced it "Jackson Polack"--I didn't laugh until I went to the bathroom...
My good friend in college was a visual arts major. For his thesis, he contructed a 25 foot penis and rolled it around campus.
Perhaps this is something of the same ilk?
Vis arts majors - heh!
