We bow to the superior musical ear that belongs to our own Jo Spanglemonkey. BB and I finally ran the comparison. Jo called it, and it's true: The song "Love of My Life" from Supernatural gets its theme from the Poco Allegretto movement of Brahms Symphony No. 3 in f minor.
You can clearly hear it on these links. Very cool!
All righty then. To work. Sweetie, get me Brahms' people on the line. Carlos owes royalties, big time!
Also:
Rick Wakeman: "Cans and Brahms"--also from the Brahms Thrird
ELP: "Knife-Edge"--Leos Janacek's Sinfonietta
Procul Harum: "A Whiter Shade of Pale"--Bach's Air on a G String
ELP (AGAIN!): "Tocatta"--Ginastera's Piano Concerto, Fourth Movement
"Never Gonna Fall In Love Again"--Rachmaninoff's Second Symphony, Third Movement
"Tonight We Love"--Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto, opening statement
"Full Moon and Empty Arms"--Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto, Third Movement
John Williams: "Can You Read My Mind" (from Superman): Richard Strauss's Death and Transfiguration
Anyone know if there's a pop hit based on Pachebel's Canon in D?

COME THE SPREAD WINGS OF GEORGE SEAGAL....
Listen carefully--the sound you hear is Janacek having dry heaves in the great beyond!

I forgot to add: while I don't want to advocate a musician's hell, I certainly feel that Greg Lake, Tim Rice, Bernie Taupin, Ian Anderson and others should not expect to get off completely scot-free in the next plane of existence....
