Not to take anything away from the gravity of the situation, and not to say Dick Cheney didn't show a lack of decorum, but ... are any of us really shocked? Cheney seems like the kind of guy whose toys are wound way too tight. I bet the fact that he didn't use the f-word on camera before now is a major accomplishment for him. Just speculating.

I drop the old f-bomb myself from time to time, but I'm not the Vice President, who is expected to have a bit more respect for the Senate. On the other hand, in 1857, some senator beat the living crap out of another with his cane and left him for dead on the senate floor, so perhaps this is merely Cheney's way of preserving decorum.
