Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. I went to Grandpa and J's house on Thursday. Some of J's relatives were there, too. J's granddaughter, D, played cards with me. She's eighteen. She's nice and pretty, too. We played hide and seek, and we laughed a lot. We had our Thanksgiving feast, waited about thirty minutes, then cracked open the pies. I had cheesecake (mmmmmmm). Today Grandma and Uncle Dan are coming over for another feast. That's like, three feasts in one week, including the one at my new daycare. My pants aren't going to fit after this.

Chapter 13:
“I’m calling
out a search party,” Gwen’s Mom said. Mrs. Macy, Mr. Macy, Tim, Mandy, and
Megan were all sitting in the living room, looking distressed. Daisy the puppy
was curled up in Mandy’s lap, eyes open, ears up while Mandy stroked her smooth
white fur absent-mindedly. The phone rang right as Gwen’s mother touched it.
She clutched the receiver, holding it up to her left ear.
“Hello?” she
said.
“Mom? Is
that you?” said the voice on the other end.
“Yes! Gwen,
where are you? What’s happened?”
(At Mrs. Macy’s
shouting, the family and the two friends perked up.)
“ I’m
alright, Mom. Listen, nothing happened yet, but we’re not sure what’s going to
happen to us,”
“Us? Who’s
us? Where are you, honey?”
“Oh, I’m with
this other girl named Hannah. Okay mom. I’m in this tiny locked up cabin in the
middle of the w-
Gwen looked at
her cherry red cell phone. On the little tiny box at the top, it read ‘Dead
Battery’.
